Skatole – Animalic, Indolic & Jasmine Character Aroma Chemical
Skatole is a powerful indolic aroma chemical used in very small quantities to add a natural, warm, animalic and sensual character to floral compositions. At higher concentration it has a strong fecal/manure-like odour, while at extreme dilution it contributes a jasmine, orange-blossom, narcotic floral and natural animalic effect.
Fragrance Character
Animalic • Indolic • Jasmine • Narcotic Floral • Warm • Sensual • Dark
Skatole is particularly valuable when a fragrance needs realistic natural-floral depth rather than simply a clean synthetic jasmine effect.

Important Formulation Note
Skatole is exceptionally powerful. It should normally be evaluated first as a very dilute solution rather than added directly at high concentration. Small dosage changes can dramatically change a composition from rich/narcotic floral to distinctly animalic.
For a professional fragrance compound, the exact dosage should be established by evaluation and according to the intended application and applicable regulatory/IFRA requirements.
